LEtting joy lead you
When people are asked what they want from life, the answers vary a little but they are very often circling around wanting to be happy, financially secure, and having important people around them. More and more people are in a privileged position in a sense that they are able to achieve the things they assumed they were meant to achieve, a job, a house, a spouse, kids, some free time, some nice things and activities. And yet still life just doesn’t feel amazing. It feels like you are supposed to be happy since you have all that and yet something is missing. There is an illusion that happiness should follow success (what ever you think success is). Jim Carrey has once said: “I think everybody should get rich and famous and do everything they ever dreamed of, so they can see that it’s not the answer.” Material gratification and success are always external, whereas true happiness is internal. Happiness and feeling fulfillment only come from mastering your mind and connecting with your inner being (soul), connecting to the joy inside of you.
It is surprisingly difficult (and often painful) to notice you haven’t been really living your life, but a life that you thought you were meant to live. Your parents, teachers, friends, media, and culture are imprinting a lot of requirements and ideas on how to live a good life into you. It feels like you are making choices but somehow the range of choices have already been narrowed down for you. The great part of this is that by becoming aware of this, you can evaluate your current choices, values, thoughts, and beliefs and make changes to them.
Living a Joy-Led Life is about identifying and assessing where you are now, noticing what brings you joy (see our definition what we mean by joy), what kind of a life you want to live based on your thoroughly evaluated values, thoughts, and beliefs and aligning your goals, actions, and habits accordingly. It is about quieting the outside wishes and demands that are thumbling around in your mind and listening your inner self. Listening to the joy inside of you that is eagerly waiting to show you the way.
Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.
